Teaching Philosophy: Dance is not just an art form. It is a sport, a medicine, a language. Everybody deserves to take up space, and every body is valid, beautiful, and filled with passion and artistry.
Bio: Izzi King, born and raised in New Jersey, began their dance journey at age two. They trained in tap, contemporary, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and musical theater; and competed for eight years at Anita Ehrler's Dance Extensions. Izzi graduated from Wheaton College (MA) in 2022 with a degree in sociology and minors in psychology and dance. They continued their dance training there and began exploring modern techniques and dances from the West-African Diaspora. They had the pleasure of working with and performing the work of Boston-based choreographer Diane Arvanites in the revival of her piece "The Game." They are an MDA studio teacher and a Wheaton College Dance Company choreographer. Izzi is honored to start their first season with the Urbanity professional company!
