Urbanity 2
Urbanity 2 is Urbanity's second company comprised of highly trained and skilled dancers, who are working professionals or pursuing degrees in non-performance fields and industries. A competitive program, Urbanity 2 provides adult dancers with opportunities to take weekly technique classes, participate in creative processes, work with nationally renowned artists, and perform publicly in Boston. Dancers also have the opportunity to apply for choreographic opportunities within the company.
Our company members are engineers, medical students, nurses, lawyers, financial analysts, tech specialists, HR and marketing professionals, dance teachers, and physical therapists. Urbanity’s second company is brimming with heart, human connection, professionalism, and terrific creation.

Benefits
Company class: Weekly technique classes held from 10-11:30am on Sunday mornings with various master guest teachers. Class styles include: contemporary, modern, improvisation, hip-hop, jazz, conditioning, ballet, and more.
Performance opportunities: Urbanity 2 performs multiple times per year as a company with opportunities to participate in guest artist residencies, emerging local choreographer performances (Urbanity X), and full showcases with coveted Boston choreographers. Additionally, dancers are given opportunities for paid commercial dance projects throughout New England.
Choreographic opportunities: Dancers are given opportunities to choreograph for company showcases and local events.
Discounted rates: $5 weekly Urbanity drop-in class rates; $5 space rentals.
Annual Photoshoot: Receive professional photos every fall with Ryan Smith Visuals.
Networking: A diverse group of professionals, there is much opportunity for professional networking in and out of the dance field, along with opportunities to teach dance and get more involved with Urbanity Dance as a larger organization.
Social events: Dance communities are the best communities, and as adults we understand the desire to connect and build friendships outside of the workplace and studio. Our goal at Urbanity 2 is to create thoughtful, beautiful work, but we truly hope to bring people together to better the overall community.

Annual Gala Performance: February 22, 2025 — 7pm
Urbanity 2 dancers will be performing at our annual fundraising event with food, drinks, social gathering. Cocktail attire required.
Urbanity 2 Showcase: March 29, 2025 & March 30, 2025
Join us during the last weekend of March 2025 for our annual spring performance featuring guest choreographers Levi Marsmen, Haley Day, Adrienne Hawkins, and Urbanity 2 Company members at Boston University’s black-box theatre.

Mosaic Dance Inc. Community Holiday Show: December 7, 2024 — 8 pm
James Ewell and Courtney Sperro choreographed a new piece featuring Urbanity 2 dancers for Mosaic Dance, Inc.’s performance in Allston, MA.
Move for the Movement: January 19, 2025 — 6pm
Urbanity 2 dancers will be performed at a Dance Celebration to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Urbanity X: Dancers recently performed In Collaboration on directed by Urbanity 2 Co-Directors, Colleen Roddy and Maggie Howe, in collaboration with the dancers. The performance featured Urbanity 2 and Junior Apprentice dancers exploring individual choice and how they influences the group movement patterns
Fall Dance Crawl: Urbanity 2 dancers recently performed work by guest artists in different venues across the Boston South End.
